Water Sampling Challenge

The Water Challenge builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging citizens to conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies. Protecting the quality of water in our local watersheds is a critical part of ensuring the overall health of the environment and our communities. Limu (Hawaiian seaweeds) with Uncle Wally!

Join Uncle Wally from Kuaʻāīna Ulu ʻAumo as he teaches us about commonly and not so commonly found limu (seaweed). He'll also share a story or two about them as well as Hawaiian names. Wally Ito has been a spearfisherman since the age of eight and has witnessed the decline of the nearshore fishery over a 50-year period. Today, he is passionate about limu, its important role in the nearshore marine environment and its role in the Hawaiian culture.
